As part of one of its deliverables, the CHARTER project promised a white paper on the use of drones in the Arctic, as several work packages were actively using and planning to use drones in their fieldwork campaigns. Given that drones produce some eye watering visuals, we decided to create a more visual approach to this task and created a StoryMap which is online for all to see, titled A Birds Eye View. Drones: A New Lens for Science, A New Tool for Herding by Philip Burgess, Jeff Kerby and Miguel Villoslada.
Pleased to announce that we have just added some exciting new footage to one of our chapters, that which looks into how drones have not only transformed science, but also reindeer herding. Thanks to Raggo Drone for their superb footage, time and participation. Raggo Drone is a company that was established by two reindeer herders in the Rákkonjárga herding district in Varanger, in Eastern Finnmark, Norway.
